New!! 10/23/2000 Hood River: 122.8 L-3500 Elv. 631, 11 miles East of PDX; Lunch is 3 miles away, but the FBO has a Courteous car. $10. So go to town. Old Oregon town along the Columbia River. The real Thrill is Flying in. OFF the Scale for visual affects. Especially if your arrival is from the North. Portland airspace is of no real factor. Everyone there has a refreshing country Folk'sie attitude. Smiles, and NO $$ excepted. Wow that's different. Don't you hate it when you drop in to some struggling field and the FBO ask you two times on the Common freq if you want Fuel while your taxiing? Not at Hood River.
Here's a must do Flight...
From Seattle, fly out to Straight of Fuca, then make a climbing left turn to about 8500 feet over Pt. Angeles. Then head home (Seattle) but fly over Hurricane ridge. As you proceed East past the Lodge, you'll be close to the Ridge. Just as you pass over the ridge, right there in front of YOU is the "Emerald City"... It's breath-taking for sure. Really; Please do this flight, it's awesome. You'll have to Chop power and dive to get under the TCA, "Bravo" Space for you pilots under 40. Best near sunset. I've done-it again 9/9/2001, Wow, Scary... But VERY Exciting. Take your Camera.
